Who's the hottest star amongst the ten brightest in the firmament? Hi, I'm Nuke, host and editor, and you're listening with me to the AntipodeanSF Radio Show "Achernar" which also answers that opening question. Hottest and bluest of them all is that most oblate of stars in Eridanus, meandering constellation, which is perhaps something I could be accused of in this show. Oblateness and meandering-ness.
Reeling it in with fictional bait, let me hook you. In "Achernar" you'll hear as a feature part one of a rather longer than normal for AntipodeanSF time-travel story. This is a change for us here at AntiSF, but it will continue. I'm encouraging any author with previous publication credit at AntiSF to contribute longer stories for the site, now a more viable thing to do online with the technological advances in displays, and the popularity of e-book readers.
Didn't you know that AntiSF is available in e-book format? Well, it is, and I must thank the ever vigilant and helpful Mark Webb for his work in creating those issues for us, which are now available in both epub and mobi formats. And while I'm meandering yet again, you should also think about downloading Dimension 6, a new and free e-magazine edited by Keith Stevenson of Coeur De Lion Publishing. I really enjoyed the first issue, which included stories by Richard Harland, Charlotte Nash, and Jason Nahrung. I particularly liked Jason's story "The Preservation Society". This is a vampire story that has a beautiful bite to it. Dimension 6 can be downloaded from the AntipodeanSF website, antisf.com.au, by choosing the "E-Reader - Downloads" link in the main menu.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to interview Jason at the Aurealis Awards, but I did catch up with many others, and the remainder of the audio from that event is coming to the AntipodeanSF Radio show in the near future. As for Jason, perhaps I'll interview him soon, since I do have permission from him and many other AntiSF authors to "Flashback" to their stories from earlier issues of this very magazine.
Ah, digression. It's a way of life. Enough. Also in this show you'll, if you're lucky, you'll get away with a single nightmare. And now...
