G'day and Howdy, and welcome to the AntipodeanSF Radio Show Helix. Hold it right there. I don't mean that delicious and colourful planetary nebula. I'm talking galaxy here, and it's a strange one in the constellation Ursa Major. We're talking polar ring galaxy aka the Pancake, but not in the kitchen Galaxy. Helix's nucleus is surrounded by bright strands of star-forming regions and hydrogen gas, winding around the outside edge of the galaxy. In fact, the Milky way possibly could have turned out to be a polar ring galaxy, if the Magellanic clouds were just a little closer. But that's a what if. Not so much under question is that I am your host and editor, Nuke, and I'd love it if you'd stick around for the next half an hour or so for this show, which will speculate. Guaranteed. And perhaps sing as well.
