G'day and welcome to the down-under podcast and radio show where speculative flash fiction belongs. This is the AntipodeanSF Radio Show Regulus, brightest star in the heart of Leo the lion, and this is the first of four shows to feature the fiction and contents of AntipodeanSF Issue 93, online at antisf.com.au. Where else?
I'm Nuke, your host and editor, always on the lookout for good flash fiction, from writers green and red, young and old, dabbling or serious. Regulus isn't just one star. It's actually made up of two binary pairs of stars, with the brightest pair about 80 light years distant. Regulus is so close to the ecliptic that it's regularly, no pun intended or even hinted at, occulted by the Moon, and occasionally by Mercury or Venus.
Shadowy stuff, and speaking of the occult, it sometimes features in stories at AntiSF. Perhaps it's here today, somewhere lurking in a troubling situation in Canberra, in an Act of Faith that delivers cruelty and disbelief, or in the ramblings and rumblings of a bunch of editors at the Aurealis Awards earlier this year.
